Butternuts Beer and Ale Snapperhead IPA Secondary Review by D.P.

Butternuts Beer and Ale
Snapperhead IPA
ABV – ?
Appearance – Pours nicely,  a bit cloudy, honey colored, nifty brussels lace.
Smell – Strong floral notes and tropical fruits.
Taste – Sweetness at first,  pleasant middle.  The taste of grains peek through at the finish,  followed by an interesting,  barley infused,  mildly bitter yet lingering aftertaste.
Mouthfeel – No complaints.
Drinkability – Try it,  if you like IPA’s,  you won’t be disappointed.
Notes – This beer is like the Led Zeppelin song, “Achille’s Last Stand”.  It starts out with the rolling drums and thumping bass which are soon joined by Robert Plant’s rocking vocals.  The finish is an overlay of instruments,  lyrics and background ah, ah, ahAH’s,  and crescendo-ing oh oh oh oh oh oh oh’s.  The lingering aftertaste is the guitar moaning out the last mournful notes which slowly fade into oblivion.  You are left wanting more.
My call – 4.5

Mississippi Mud Secondary Review by D.P

Mississippi Mud Famous Slow Brewed Black and Tan Porter and Pilsner Beer
Mississippi Brewing Co.
ABV – ?
Appearance – Nice cola color,  rich foamy head.  Comes in an awesome one quart jug.
Smell – Sour fruit and malt.
Taste – Sweetness strikes the tongue first,  followed by a rich taste of coffee grounds.  Flavor sort of trails off to a very mild,  almost unnoticeable finish.
Mouthfeel – Good.
Drinkability – Worth trying,  for sure.
Notes – Why the Mississippi Brewing Co. is in Utica, NY is somewhat baffling.
While tasting,  I had to take a quick look around because I literally thought somebody had stuffed a spoonful of coffee grounds into my mouth.
My call – 3.0

North Coast Brewing Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale Secondary Review by D.P.

Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale
North Coast Brewing
ABV – 7.6%
Appearance – Dense,  honey colored.  Looks thick like fruit juice with suspended particles.
Smell – Unusual smell,  almost like carrot juice infused with a bit of honey.
Taste – Sweetness,  again I sense honey.  Everything else is overpowered by the alcohol.  These sensations mellow out and improve a bit further down the glass.
Mouthfeel – A little thick and clingy.
Drinkability – Sure,  it’s drinkable…but….
Notes – I didn’t really like it,  and I’m fairly certain you won’t either.
My call – 2.0
